Game Review :
I played this game back on the PS1 back in 1996 and I ????ing loved it then. It’s pretty incredible to think that Resident Evil went on to become a whole series. It makes sense though because this game is a stone cold classic.
The level of nostalgia, with this game for me is off the scale and this remaster is fantastically done. As I play, it’s very enjoyable to have memories coming back of the layout of the areas and some specific scenes.
The developers chose to stick with the original fixed camera angles and let me tell ya some of these camera angles are pretty stylish. I almost started to appreciate this type of viewpoint but honestly the over the shoulder view was a huge step forward for the series.
It’s amazing how immersive this game still is though as the backtracking really sells me on the idea that this is a real place. I get sucked in while moving around the environments trying to remember where everything is.
Some of the gameplay elements in Resident Evil were way ahead of their time back in 1996 as such the game manages to be as immersive as modern open world games. The ‘true’ survival horror experience is here with resource management and returning to safe rooms to save or stock up.
If you like the game then Please buy it to support the developers Steam Link.
