Battlefield Bad Company 2 Review :
Overall a Fun game. Campaign is standard “bad people are trying to conquer the world” fare, but some funny quips and fairly good gameplay make it an enjoyable experience overall. I’d give campaign a 7/10. However, you should not buy this just game for the singleplayer.
Multiplayer is where BFBC2 really shines. I used to play on console (hence low playtime). I was delighted to see that there are still a few servers running. The upgrade system is very straightforward and the difference between guns is actually noticeable. Ranks go from 1 to 50, but it takes a good amount of time to progress through them. Vehicles are also cool and mostly balanced. The map design is very good and each plays differently, aside from a few recycled assets. Some things I don’t like are a few overpowered upgrades only available to high ranking players (Magnum Ammo and Vehicle Alternate Warhead, specifically). Also, games are almost always won/lost by a landslide. In addition to this, there is no mechanism to prevent base camping. Some games your team literally cannot move from spawn. I’d give multiplayer a 9/10.
Bottom line: If you like multiplayer and can put up with some annoying tactics, this game is great. However, if you’re a singleplayer person, you probably should not buy.
The Singelplayer was ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Just plain old “run along set path-shoot-run-shoot”. In some missions I tried to think creative, like. Maybe i can get a jump on them from that ledg- “WHAT ARE YOU DOING, WE HAVE ENEMY MORTARS POINTING AT YOU”. That killed it for me. The Lush jungle were i would have loved to attack from above, or the city were i tried to flank a machine gun.
I’ll give the campaign a 6/10
The multiplayer was interesting, squad team death-match (or something like that) was great, same goes for rush. Running around a corner killing a sniper with your squad mates distract him. That is what makes it good. BUT!. conquest is terrible. Never in my whole life have i been spawn killed that much. Once, i actually started death. And i fell like every time i spawn i instantly run for cover under enemy sniper fire. That’s my second issue, when the enemy have a decent sniper or two, your entire team are useless, the so called kill cam, doesn’t help at all. When it only shows his head and some grass. Now i don’t say that the multiplayer is bad, i’m just saying that the snipers are a bit overpowered. MW2 intervension + stoping power + FMJ overpowered.
